Len Blavatnik’s Success

When most people think about Len Blavatnik nowadays, they probably imagine his billions of dollars and all the success he’s had with Access Industries. However, the truth is that the man had very humble beginnings within the Ukraine and didn’t emigrate to the US until 1978. By then he had already been to Moscow State University. In the US, he earned his masters from Columbia in computer science and then an MBA from Harvard in 89. When it comes to college, though, many people associate Len Blavatnik with Cambridge University, as he is a member on their Global Advisory Board of the Center for International Business and Management.

Blavatnik is known not just for his impressive success in industry, but also for his philanthropic endeavors. For over 15 years, the Blavatnik Family Foundation has been helping the underprivileged in a multitude of ways. In 2007, they started a push to help young men and women pursue their interest in science and gain an education.

Four years ago, the foundation donated 75 million pounds to Oxford in order to establish a new school of government. This gift is one of the largest the school has seen in over 900 years of existence.
