Streamlining Your Business Travel Time

August 9, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

When you are traveling for business, it is most likely that you do not have time to waste. You need to get yourself from one meeting to another without having to miss any time that is needed to spend on business. Having a streamlined travel plan is the most effective way to stay on top of meeting schedules and deadlines. Commercial transportation today can be bogged down by long check in lines and security. It is important that you be prepared as much as possible.

The most important thing for any business traveler to do is to pack well. If you are only going for a quick over-night trip, one carry-on bag should be sufficient. This is ideal for checking in and getting to your destination quickly. If you don’t have to waste time waiting for luggage, you have already won half the battle.

When you book your flights, fly from regional airports if it all possible. Smaller airports tend to save you time in comparison to major international airports. Traffic, check-in and security will be much faster, giving you more time to spend working and less time standing around the airport waiting hours in advance. Depending on your company’s travel budget, you may want to look into direct flights, which will save you tons of time or even booking an executive jet charter. The ability to charter a private jet will offer you many conveniences in comparison to commercial transportation.

However, if you decide to fly you will want to check-in online. Online check-in is an added bonus, which should allow you to go straight to security, and not have to wait in check –in lines. If you are bringing more than a carry-on, you may have the option of curbside check-ins, which tends to help speed up the process. Frequent flier programs can also get you through this check-in process faster as well. As a business traveler, signing up for a frequent flier program is an absolute must. Most programs give frequent fliers designated access to security and check-in lines.

Once you are in the air, have everything you need, ready and prepared for landing. Make sure you have printed out directions and car rental information if you are not being picked up by a driver. The last thing you want to do is fumble with maps and not have any clue about the direction you are going. Research rental companies so that you know who is closest to the airport and who is most convenient. If renting a car is something that your company always has you do, become a member of an auto loyalty program. This will speed up your pick-up and drop off time.

As a business traveler, you want to be able to focus on your job and not have to waste any unnecessary time traveling. By using some of these tips, you can create a plan that will get you through any airport and car rental company in no time.

HOW STRAUSS –KAHN’S ARREST WOULD AFFECT THE EUROZONE

May 23, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Despite the arrest of IMF chief Dominique Strauss -Kahn, the European finance ministers have approved a $110 billion bailout to Portugal. The loan will be given by the IMF, The European Financial Stability Facility and the European Financial Stabilization Mechanism with each contributing $36.7 billion.

There was doubt as to how successful this weeks bail out negotiations in Brussels would be without the advocacy of Strauss- Kahn who is an expert on European economic and political affairs. There are still concerns among the EU as to the role the IMF would play in the long term future to help Europe in the absence of Strauss -Kahn.

Chief among these concerns would be the second bail out package to Greece, who despite being given a bail out package of $146 billion last year is still struggling. EU’s donor countries including Germany have opposed supporting high deficit countries like Greece and have insisted on further budget cuts to be imposed by such countries.

Many experts believe that if Strauss-Kahn was still heading the IMF he would have pressed for further aid to Greece and Europe in order to stabilize the turbulent European economy.

How Web 3.0 Benefits its Customers

March 18, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

There is no doubt that the Internet has become a large part of our lives, and with social media hailing the dawn of Web 2.0, experts are convinced that the next ‘version’ of the Internet is already here.

But how can you tell whether this is right or not?

Perhaps the first indication of this change is the fact that the online user experience is now being determined by websites by taking online user behavior into serious consideration. The definition of user behavior refers to the tastes and preferences when surfing the Net, order frequency, size and quantity as well as purchase history among several other factors.

Not only is this version of the Web able to collect real-time information but it also allows online merchants to create unique user profiles by analyzing other factors such as preference, previous purchases, and their response to promotions, thereby providing them with the opportunity to make personalized recommendations to their customers on a regular basis.

While people who are particular about their privacy might worry about this sophisticated ability to create a unique buying experience for every individual, concepts such as a retail recommender or a recommendation engine cannot be all that bad.

Resistance to this kind of approach might be futile since merchants assess user behavior by merely analyzing each customer’s visit to your profile. Since this technology is only being used to make recommendations according to your likes and dislikes, it does improve the overall buying experience for customers everywhere.
